Simonas Bartkus, head of marketing at Small Planet Airlines, told BNS that the company would add three new Airbus planes to its fleet in June, thus increasing it to 21 aircraft.
"We need more employees as we grow. We estimate that each plane needs five to six new crews with two pilots each. Some pilots will be hired for the summer flight season and others will be hired permanently. We plan to have around 215 pilots in the summer," he said.
According to Bartkus, this is up by 34 percent from 160 pilots in the 2015 summer season.
Most of the airline's aircraft operate flights in Europe in the summer.
The company will cooperate with AviationCV.com, a subsidiary of the Vilnius-based, Warsaw-listed aviation group Avia Solutions Group, in recruiting new pilots.
Small Planet Airlines' revenue jumped by 27 percent in 2015 compared with 2014 to reach 182 million euros. Its profit more than doubled to 19.1 million euros.
