EducationKaunas University of Technology (KTU) start-up incubator Startup Space is one of the two finalists from Lithuania in the European Enterprise Promotion Awards, organised by the European Commission together with the Ministry of Economy of Republic of Lithuania. Lithuania has risen 8 places in the European Innovation Scoreboard, published by the European Commission. By rising from 24th up to 16th position, the Lithuania now lies ahead of Poland, Latvia, Spain, Slovakia and Hungary. The 5-th international summer school “VGTU-CalPoly‘2017” started at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) last week. Within 5 weeks period 23 students from the California State Polytechnic University (CalPoly) and 10 Civil Engineering students from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) are studying and working together, tutored by the joint academic staff from both the partner institutions, VGTU and CalPoly. From July 3rd-7th, 2017, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) will be hosting the 7th Erasmus International Staff Exchange Week on campus. Meet Najeeb Hasan – a Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) graduate from India, who graduated from KTU in 2015. During the interview back then, he was an intern at United Nations headquarters in Budapest, Hungary. Now, two years later, Najeeb is not only fully employed by UN, but also has a diplomatic status. Augustas Žaltauskas, a recent graduate of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is one of 40 Europeans who have been chosen to the internship in Japan. Selected from more than 1 000 applicants of the training programme Vulcanus in Japan, Augustas is starting internship at the international company of telecommunications this September. Last week Times Higher Education (THE) has announced the rankings of the best universities in Europe 2016–2017. According to the rankings, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is among the best 400 European universities (301+ category). Birutė Galdikas, the world-famous Lithuanian anthropologist, primatologist, conservationist, ethologist, and author, recognized as a leading authority on orang-utans, will deliver a lecture this Wednesday at Kaunas National Drama Theatre. This lecture is a part of the programme of the 13th World Congress of Semiotics, organised by Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) International Semiotics Institute. President Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the ceremony of signing the Agreement between Lithuania and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). |
