In April this year, passenger and flight traffic continued to grow at all Lithuanian Airports. Compared to the same period last year, the total number of passengers increased sixfold and reached 447,000 last month, while the number of flights more than doubled as more than 4.3 thousand flights were handled in April.

The Port of Hamburg, the largest seaport in Germany, and Klaipėda State Seaport intend to strengthen cooperation in developing and implementing joint projects and developing new logistics routes for maritime and other types of transport between Germany and Lithuania. Commissioned by the Rail Baltica joint venture RB Rail AS, the Spanish infrastructure consultancy Ineco has delivered a landmark study on the opportunities to maximize the synergies from simultaneous deployment of various infrastructure developments along the Rail Baltica greenfield railway corridor. Rooted in the international best practice “Dig Once” philosophy, the study provides actionable recommendations to Baltic and European authorities on leveraging the 800+km long cross-border railway corridor to co-create also other synchronized and complementary infrastructure along this emerging connectivity backbone in Northeast Europe.

In the first quarter of this year, Lithuanian Airports continued to record the recovery of the aviation sector. Passenger traffic increased by 5.5 times and the number of flights by almost 2.5 times compared to the same period last year. According to experts, in both February and March, passenger traffic at Lithuanian Airports exceeded the demand forecasted at the beginning of the year, as stated in the Aviation Traffic Overview of Lithuanian Airports at the beginning of the year.

On 20 April, a symbolic road sign denoting the construction work has been installed in Čiūdai Village (Jonava District), which marks the official start of construction of the Rail Baltica railway infrastructure towards the Latvian border – the construction of access roads.
