Tomorrow, the Chairman of the Seimas Group for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Republic of Poland Michal Mackevič, Chairman of the Seimas Committee on Human Rights Leonard Talmont and Members of the Seimas Antanas Matulas and Mečislovas Zasčiurinskas are visiting Poland (Tricity-Hel), where the meeting of the chairmanship of the parliamentary Polish-Lithuanian group will take place.

At the invitation of Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, the foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group (V4) and Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries will get together in Krakow to discuss the Eastern Partnership and its November summit in Vilnius.

A joint meeting of the coalition factions took place in Vilnius earlier this week. During the meeting, the primary topic of discussion was the change of the tax system, designed to change the size of tax-free amount in order to reduce the tax burden on people with lower incomes and create more favourable conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises.

People wanted to get to know the surrounding environment and discover new sensations since ancient times. Thanks to the nowadays' possibilities – modern means of transport, cosmopolitanism and globalization, desire to lead an active lifestyle – up to 900 million people annually from all around the world go to various trips. Unfortunately, Lithuania is not as popular to visit as we would like it to be.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with the European Commissioner for Energy, Günther Oettinger. The meeting focused on Lithuania's upcoming presidency of the EU Council and the strategic energy projects developed in the Baltic region. Among the other points discussed at the meeting was the European Council summit to be held at the end of May, which will focus on energy and competitiveness.

On 9 May in London, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the British Foreign Secretary William Hague. The meeting mainly focused on Lithuania's Presidency of the EU Council in the second half of this year.

President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the Charlemagne Prize Forum "Europa - quo vadis?" This traditional forum - the eighth already - taking place on the eve of the award ceremony, brings together under one roof around 80 prominent and influential representatives from political, economic and academic communities across Europe.

On 9-12 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius is to pay a working visit to London, where he will meet with the British Foreign Secretary William Hague and UK's high-ranking officials, and will take part in events organised by the prestigious Chatham House think-tank and the local Lithuanian community.

Approximately 120 members of the Lithuanian Armed Forces assigned to the European Union Battlegroup (EU BG) formed jointly with military personnel of the United Kingdom, Latvia, the Netherlands and Sweden, participate in the exercise in which the readiness of this UK-led multinational EU Battlegroup for standby from July 1 till the end of 2013 is evaluated.

On May 3 Minister of energy Jaroslav Neverovič met in Vilnius with the Secretary General of the European Commission Catherine Day. During the meeting, minister presented energy priorities of the Lithuanian presidency of the European Council and expressed his certitude that cooperation between Lithuania and European Commission will ensure the successful implementation of the energy goals.
