President Gitanas Nausėda visited on Wednesday the exhibition “Strong when United” dedicated to the 19th anniversary of Lithuania’s membership in NATO.

Lithuania marks the 19th anniversary as a member of NATO on March 29. The date will be commemorate at the Bastion of Vilnius City Wall and opening of an exhibition Mighty When United which reflects the evolution of NATO and Lithuania’s membership in the Alliance.

MEPs and Council negotiators agree on setting up a new tool to safeguard the EU’s interests and respond to countries seeking to coerce the Union or member states.

Parliament and Council reached a deal on cleaner maritime fuels, asking to cut ship emissions by 2% as of 2025 and by 80% as of 2050, to help the EU become climate neutral.

President Gitanas Nausėda is participating in the European Council meeting in Brussels. On Thursday afternoon, the EU leaders discussed support for Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine participated in the meeting remotely.

On Wednesday, President Gitanas Nausėda presented the Cross of Commander of the Order for Merits to Lithuania to Mark Thomas Esper, former United States Secretary of Defense, and Admiral António Manuel Fernandes da Silva Ribeiro, former Chief of the Portuguese Armed Forces.

On 21 March, Chancellor of the Government Giedrė Balčytytė, who is on a working visit to Brussels, met with Olha Stefanishyna, the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration. The parties discussed bilateral and EU support to Ukraine’s reconstruction and Euro-integration processes, Ukraine’s reform agenda and Lithuania’s potential to contribute to its smooth implementation.

On March 20 Vice Minister of National Defence Žilvinas Tomkus attended a joint EU Foreign Affairs Council in Defence Ministers’ session which agreed on the target 1 million pieces of ammunition of different calibers to be provided to Ukraine within the period of the year. EUR 2 billion will be reimbursed by the European Piece Facility (EPF) in order to compensate to member states for the ammunition given from their stocks.

From March 23 to 24 the Baltic Military Conference, an already traditional event organized by the Ministry of National Defence and the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania, will take place to address topical security and defence issues, especially strengthening NATO’s deterrence and defence posture from military and strategic perspectives.

On Wednesday, President Gitanas Nausėda took part in the presentation of an open learning website “School of Citizenship” and a discussion on citizenship.
