PoliticsOn 8 June, at the request of parents I was present at V. Sirokomlės secondary school in Vilnius. There were two policemen from the Prevention subdivision of the First Police Station in Vilnius. They were carrying out operational activities based on questioning the teachers. It was all concerning an anonymous that was allegedly received by the police. The officers questioned the names of the participants of the legal rally and school strike organized in defence of the education of national minorities. This action is outrageous and unacceptable in a democratic state ruled by law; it is an attempt to intimidate the school community which in a legal and civilized way stands in defence of their rights. Unfortunately, it was not the first case of such outrageous authorities' actions using the police help. Six months ago there was a search carried out during lessons' time in the Vasilijus Kačialovas gymnasium in Vilnius and in the Sofija Kovalevskaja secondary school in Vilnius. On 8 June, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with Kosovo's Minister of European Integration Bekim Çollaku, who is visiting Vilnius. Having arrived in Afghanistan on 6 June to visit Lithuanian soldiers, Lithuanian Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas met with members of the Lithuanian contingent serving in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, and in Herat. The minister also met with soldiers of the Special Operations Forces Squadron deployed in Kandahar, southern Afghanistan, and Lithuanian staff officers. EAPL: Good results of Sunday's elections predict successful outcomes of coming parliamentary elections2015-06-09, 11:28The elections were held in Lithuania last Sunday on June 7. EAPL members took part in them and according to the party their results were good. Such an assessment of the results of repeated local elections in Trakai and Širvintos districts as well as of elections' of a member in a single-seat Varėna-Eišiškės constituency was presented by the Chairman of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania, Member of the European Parliament Valdemar Tomaševski and EAPL Seimas Faction Vice Chairwoman Vanda Kravčionok during a press conference which took place in the Seimas on Monday. On Friday, 5 June 2015, Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius took part in the second "Bagel Shop" tolerance award ceremony. The campaign aimed against anti-Semitism is implemented by the Jewish community of Lithuania. Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius is the patron of the event. Fake products are harmful to the economy, not only to those who have invested in the original products, but also to consumers, whose health and safety are at risk. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) exist to help counter these dangers. On Monday 8 June MEPs debate two reports dealing with IPR infringements and vote on them the following day. Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius: Lithuania is becoming more visible on the world map2015-06-06, 14:34On Friday, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius met with Lithuanian honorary consuls to express appreciation for their efforts made for the benefit of Lithuania, to discuss latest developments in the country, as well as Government's plans, etc. President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with honorary consuls of Lithuania. This was the sixth traditional meeting which gathered 123 honorary consuls from 62 states. Such meetings have been held every three years since 2001. Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite started her first State of the Nation Address of her second term of office speaking about external and domestic threats to safety of Lithuania and Europe.
