Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, has received Mikheil Janelidze, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, who came with the official visit to Lithuania. The officials expressed their satisfaction with intensive, bilateral political, economic and cultural cooperation that is taking on ever more novel forms.

On 5 April, Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, met with Inara Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, in Kroņauce close to the Lithuanian and Latvian border. The Speakers addressed issues of bilateral cooperation, regional policy, Nordic–Baltic co-operation (NB8) and Eastern Partnership. The interlocutors also focused on strengthening of regional security, solutions to migration problems and preparation for NATO's Summit in Warsaw, which is due on 8–9 July.

On 4 April, the Government's meeting approved the priorities of the Republic of Lithuania in the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the guidelines for coordination of activities of institutions in this international organization for the 2015-2019 period.

EU-Turkey relations top the Parliament's agenda this week as the civil liberties committee is set to debate the deal on migration and refugees. It also looks at measures to combat terrorism following the attacks in Brussels on 22 March and the extraordinary summit held by the EU's justice ministers on 24 March. In addition committees also discuss how EU institutions spent the 2014 budget and funding for more staff at Europol's counter-terrorism centre.

On 1 April in Washington, D.C., the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil Mauro Vieira and discussed the development of bilateral relations.

The Lithuanian-Turkish political consultation was held on 30 March in Ankara. The consultation focused on the intensifying political and economic relationship between Lithuania and Turkey, regional security, the fight against international terrorism, the cooperation between the European Union and Turkey, and the preparation for the forthcoming NATO Summit.

The Committee on Rural Affairs met with Phil Hogan, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, and Vytenis Andriukaitis, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, on 31 March 2016 in the framework of the international exhibition Agrobalt 2016.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, who is visiting Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States of America, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on 30 March.

The key political and administrative reforms needed in Albania are progressing, but have yet to reach a stage at which EU accession negotiations could start, said Foreign Affairs Committee MEPs on Tuesday. Bosnia and Herzogovina's recent EU membership application was welcomed by MEPs, in a separate resolution, also voted on Tuesday.
