Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas will present at the meeting the proposals drafted by Lithuania and Sweden on the enhancement of Nordic-Baltic security cooperation. The proposals are designed to strengthen the Nordic-Baltic cooperation in such sectors as hybrid warfare, cyber security, joint exercises and operations, updates and procurement of weaponry, participation in the Nordic-Baltic Assistance Programme so as to render assistance to Georgia and Ukraine, and others.
Defence Ministers of the Northern Group will discuss security situation in Northern Europe and assistance to Ukraine.
In the margins of the session Minister J.Olekas will meet with Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Norway Ine Eriksen Soereide.
Meetings of the Nordic-Baltic Eight are attended by Defence ministers of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden, and Head of the Department of Defence of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland.
Meetings of the Northern Group also include heads of defence of Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and the United Kingdom.
