The building, which has not been in use for some time now, will be reconstructed into a congress centre.
The property cost acquired from UAB Ukio Banko Investicine Grupe amounts to EUR 5.4 million and from UAB Zalgirio Sporto Arena to EUR 0.2 million. In February, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius said that the building was evaluated at EUR 5 million, while the reconstruction would cost up to EUR 12 million.
According to the Government, the Bank of Property has begun to prepare the investment project for Vilnius Congress Centre as well as technical specifications for the design and contract work tender. It is planned that Vilnius Congress Centre would open in 2018, as intended in the programme for commemoration of the centenary of the restoration of the Lithuanian state.
