Heat savers should be aware: Vilnius will finance 100% of the modernisation of common heat points
59 blocks of flats in the capital can apply for full funding for the modernisation of a heat point. Residents receiving heat and hot water from a group heat point will be able to disconnect from a heat point in another building with a dependent (lift) heat supply system and install an automated heat point in their own building.
The installation or reconstruction of a new heat network and water supply for this block of flats only will be financed at 100%, while the adaptation of the room required for the heat point will be financed at 50%. In addition, the managers of the communal facilities of the houses will be provided with funds to organise a meeting with the residents who have decided to modernise their heat point.
“Modern, automated heat points are one of the most important aspects that determine the amount of heat consumed. The cleaner the point, the lower the heating bills, so our aim is to help residents renovate the most inefficient points. It is more profitable to invest in the efficiency of heat consumption than to increase the heating allowance every year,” says Adomas Bužinskas, Director of the Vilnius Municipal Administration.
Vilnius residents have already submitted nine applications to the municipality for co-financing the replacement of heating points in individual houses with a dependent system – two applications were received in September (total amount of funding: EUR 10,250) and seven applications for co-financing were received in October (total amount of funding: EUR 37,600).
Modernisation saves 15% of heating energy
In non-automated heat points with a dependent (lift) heat supply system, manually raising or lowering the temperature of the heat or water leads to imbalances in heat distribution, direct increases in bills and temperature differences within the same house – some apartments overheat, others get cold.
An efficiently operating heat point ensures quality heat supply and quality heat energy consumption, saving residents around 15% of their heating energy.
In addition, the upgraded heat point can automatically maintain the desired temperature chosen by the occupants or program individual settings – for example, lower temperatures at night.
When properly installed and maintained, a heat balance system in an apartment block allows heat to be distributed efficiently, used evenly and saved economically, so that all rooms in the building are heated evenly – no more overheated radiators in one part of the building and underheated radiators in the other.
