Number of tourists in Vilnius increased by 10 percent over first half of 2013

According to the Lithuanian Statistics Department, Vilnius' hospitality companies hosted 372,838 guests for a total of 730,274 nights during the first half of 2013. These numbers have increased by roughly 10 percent compared to the same figures for 2012.

During the first half of 2013, most visitors to Vilnius' hotels and guesthouses came from these countries:

Russia – 48,469 (27 percent more than during the first half of 2012);

Belarus – 45,961 (48 percent more);

Poland – 37,233 (14 percent more);

Germany – 24,837 (4 percent less);

The United Kingdom – 13,664 (28 percent more);

Latvia – 13,575 (4 percent less);

Norway – 9,838 (40 percent more);

The occupancy of Vilnius' hotel rooms reached 57 percent during the first half of 2013 (2 percent more than the same figure for the first half of 2012).

During the first half of 2013, 48,334 people visited Vilnius Tourism information centers. The majority of these (37,575) were foreigners, while 22 percent (10,761) were Lithuanians. Compared to the first half of last year, the amount of visitors has increased by 7 percent. The most visitors came during May (11,880), and the fewest came in February (5,095). Most of these visitors were from Russia (8,672), Germany (3,512) and Poland (3,112).

The most-visited Tourism Information center was the one in Vilnius International Airport, which received 15,767 visitors. The second most-visited center was the information center in the Town Hall, which received 12,985 visitors. The center at Vilniaus g. 22 received 11,687 visitors.
