“The main objective is to train the Lithuanian armed forces and carry out the operations listed in the national armed defence concept on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, both independently and jointly with NATO allied forces. The implementation of the draft Resolution will be funded from the general State Budget appropriations allocated to national defence”, said Vytautas Umbrasas, Deputy Minister of National Defence while presenting the draft.
The Resolution also allows, starting from 17 May2018, the entrance into the Republic of Lithuania of no more than 6600 international troops and civil service personnel assigned to military duty to participate in the joint military exercise Saber Strike 2018 („Kardo kirtis 2018“) and their stay in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania until 30 June 2018.
The Resolution on the international military exercise Saber Strike 2018 („Kardo kirtis 2018“), (draft No XIIIP-1954(2)) was adopted subject to special urgency procedure by 89 votes in favour and 1 vote against.
