Lithuanian Foreign Minister and Representatives of China’s Foreign Ministry Discuss Political and Economic Cooperation

On 30 July in Vilnius, Mr. Linas Linkevičius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and Mr. Song Tao, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peoples Republic of China discussed the dynamics of bilateral political relations, cooperation in the fields of transport and agriculture, trade, important issues related to the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, as well as the Presidency's priorities.

According to Minister Linkevičius, Lithuania's excellent transport network and infrastructure can well serve as a transit location for transportation of Chinese goods to other EU countries. The importance of promotion of the bilateral trade and acceleration of the procedures of issuance of export licenses for Lithuanian agricultural products to China was stressed during the meeting.

During the bilateral political consultations that were held the same day, Mr. Rolandas Kriščiūnas, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and China's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs have touched upon the issues of development of bilateral political and economic dialogue, as well as possibilities for closer cooperation in the fields of education and culture, and multilateral issues.

Political consultations with the representatives of China's Foreign Ministry have been held since 2002.
