´Last Sunday we have gained the eighth parliamentary seat. Rita Tamašunienė has won in the Nemenčinė single member constituency. We are the only party which was in power and did not lose its voters,’ said Valdemar Tomaševski, the leader of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance (EAPL-CFA). Last Monday, after the second tour of the parliamentary elections in Lithuania, the BNS agency invited the party leaders, who won the parliamentary seats, to discuss the results of the elections.

Valdemar Tomaševski congratulated the winning party because of its results and also all the other parties which entered the Seimas.

´We are the model of fair policy, we have never been involved in corruption scandals, ‘stated the leader of the party. As he said, EAPL-CFA was the only party which raised the subject of Christian values which is an important subject for Lithuania and the whole Europe.

´Not only have we talked about raising the income of the inhabitants, but we have also pointed out where to get the money from. We gave the proposition of taxing shopping centres and bank actives,’ listed the politician.

The leader of the party said that one of the most important postulates of EAPL-CFA is the payment of a monthly benefit of 120 euro for every second and subsequent child. He thinks that this will help to raise families’ income and will be an effective tool in fighting with the demographical problems in the country and with emigration.

Valdemar Tomaševski stated that there are many convergences in the election manifests between his party and the party that won the elections - The Lithuanian Peasant and Greens Union. He mentioned that the ownership of party’s own parliamentary club is a way of realising the election program and a way of helping the inhabitants of Lithuania.

The leader of EAPL-CFA mentioned that there is a possibility for EAPL-CFA to participate in the ruling coalition. ´It is possible that we will join the coalition. However, we already have proved that we can also work in the opposition,’ he said.

When asked to express his opinion about the elections, Valdemar Tomaševski said that the disturbances in the electoral information system are unacceptable in the twenty-first century. ‘This should not happen in the future. We need to discuss these kind of situations,’ said the politician.

According to the leader of EAPL-CFA, eight seats in the parliament is a very good result. When asked about the changes in the party, he responded that his party is constantly changing for better. He mentioned the appointment of the 35 year old Robert Komarovski for the vice-mayor of the local government of the Vilnius district instead of Česlav Olševski who gained a seat in the Seimas. ‘There are many young people in our party and there will be even more of them -
time does not stand still,’ said Tomaševski.

When asked if EAPL-CFA will be searching for a way to get into the ruling coalition the politician said that the party will not ‘offer’ itself. Moreover, he claimed that if the party authorities decide that the chances of the realisation of election postulates will be low, the party will not work in that kind of coalition.
