The Seimas Resolution on Application of Summer-Time Arrangements on the Territory of the Republic of Lithuania (draft No XIIP-3701(2)) received 67 votes in favour, 5 against and 28 abstentions.
The adopted resolution suggests the Government should commission relevant public authorities to promptly carry out an analysis of the Directive's impact on health, energy, transport, environment, tourism and agricultural areas, and a survey of the Lithuanian population on the implementation of the summer-time period.
Furthermore, the document notes that most favourable from the point of view of health of the Lithuanian population are time arrangements that are based on the geographical location and time zone of the country.
The EU directive laying down summer- and wintertime for the Member States is valid indefinitely, but is reviewed every five years. Next review will be done at the end of 2016.
