Lithuania – the Founder of the Extreme Light European Research Infrastructure Consortium, Called "Laser CERN"2021-06-18, 18:30On 16 June, during the General Assembly, European Consortium for Research Infrastructures (ERIC) for Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) took place. Lithuania is one of the founder of the so-called "laser CERN", the world's leading consortium of laser research infrastructures. The ELI ERIC consortium was established by Lithuania along with the founders of two international powerful laser centres in the Czech Republic and Hungary, which were later joined by Italy. Since 2016, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) in cooperation with UAB “Intermedix Lietuva” annually establishes seven one-time scholarships of 200 EUR which are awarded to the final-year students of the 1st and 2nd cycle of the full-time study form or integrated studies. Scholarships are offered for students with higher academic achievements (total grades average, except for final semester, must be 9 or higher) with a priority with higher grades average, and strong involvement in social and public activities within the university and outside of it.
