A century ago, the profession of an educator was considered prestigious and not everyone was able to pursue it. Over the past decade, however, the role of educators has decreased.

The Article “Realization of deep-blue TADF in sterically controlled naphthyridines for vacuum- and solution-processed OLEDs” published by scientists of the Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnologies and Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences of Vilnius University (VU) has been recognised and included in the collection of the 50 most popular articles of the Journal of Materials Chemistry C of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). Given that almost 2,000 scientific papers are published in the journal each year, to be included in the top 50 signifies the outstanding relevance of the VU scientists’ work.

The Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) invites startup teams to register for the third co-hort of the “TechHub” pre-acceleration program. During the program 25 startups will participate in a three-month training course, in which, with the help of personal mentors and innovation experts, will develop their ideas, get acquainted with investors and business angels, gain the necessary knowledge for further business development, find new team members and receive services worth 25,000 Eur.

On 26 and 28 April, Vytautas Magnus University will host online events for students who are planning to apply for master degree studies. The event series, titled I Got the Degree… What’s Next?, will offer webinars, present Erasmus+ mobility possibilities, introduce master degree studies at VMU and other activities related to VMU and employment in Lithuania. Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Master's Degree student Vygandas Paul Mastavičius combines studies with work in the U.S. as a licensed co-owner of a Starbucks Cafe. He says in order to work and study at the same time, you need to maintain a balance, and have a clear agenda so that everything is done on the same day," said the MRU student. He started working when he was 18 and studied continuously from that time. Now, a business partner in a Starbucks Cafe venture, he discussed the differences in business cultures and his personal experiences working abroad.

Even though it became tremendously more difficult to travel around the world and get to know different cultures because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this winter Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) International Relations Office offered a unique opportunity for students to take part in a virtual Online Winter School, organized by the partners of University, Kyungpook National University (KNU) in South Korea. 6 students of the faculties of Creative Industries, Business Management, and Mechanics took a part in this online adventure and today sharing their experience with us.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is receiving more and more public attention – we use smart technologies both at home and at work, business and the state invest in AI specialists. To encourage the students to choose the final projects’ topics, which are related to analysing AI applications, KTU has established a 10-thousand-euro prize fund. The authors of the best projects will be awarded one-time targeted scholarships.

From 3rd to 7th May 2021, Vilnius University (VU) hosts the Arqus Academy Week 2021, a week full of interesting discussions, lectures, workshops and other events organised by the Arqus European University Alliance.This first edition, with the motto of “shaping the university of the future”, aims to engage the communities of the seven universities in discussing a renewed vision for higher education.
