EducationLast week KTU welcomed the new students with Welcome Week 2017/2018 Spring events. Students from all over the world spent their first week at the University participating in seminars about the university life and living in Kaunas, were introduced to possibilities to join organisations, arts and sports groups at KTU. The week ended with a tour to the capitals – to the old Lithuanian capital Trakai and to the current one, Vilnius. A center of Emmanuel Levinas, French philosopher of Lithuanian Jewish ancestry, should be opened in Lithuania's second city Kaunas, France's Ambassador Philippe Jeantaud told Lithuania's Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis. Next week, on 15–16 February Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) will celebrate the Centennial of the restoration of the State together with all Lithuanians across the world. The University has invited more than 15 artists, who will provide their contemporary interpretation of various events in Lithuanian history, focusing on the contribution of the University’s community on the creation of the State. Lithuania last year saw a decline in the overall number of patent applications, but Chinese applicants were more active than in earlier years, the State Patent Bureau said. Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) 261 bachelors, masters and doctors of science were awarded KTU Diplomas. Among them were 17 international graduates. A Ph.D. student at Vilnius University Faculty of Physics, Jurgis Aleksandravičius, together with Dr Saulius Rudys won the DLR Special Prize at the European Satellite Navigation Competition. Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, attends today the Global Partnership for Education Conference in Dakar, Senegal and calls on global leaders to step up their investment in education. Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Santaka Valley will house the 11th Hacker Games, the biggest hackathon of the year on 2–4 March, 2018. According to the organisers, Startup Lithuania, Hacker Games are attracting around 200 curious and creative young minds every year. After event, there are several innovative products created and quite a few potential startup teams formed. On February 8th International Days will be held in auditorium 03, Saulėtekio al. 11, 13:45 to 14:30 (for English speaking students). |
