Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.1 billion (LTL 3.7 billion). The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 0.3 billion (LTL 0.9 billion).
Over the month (March 2015, against February), exports increased by 10, imports – by 11.7%. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of ground vehicles (30.8%), pharmaceuticals (42.4%), plastics and articles thereof (18%). The increase in imports was determined by an increase in imports of ground vehicles (31.6%), miscellaneous chemical products (2.7 times), boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (14.8%). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 14%, imports – 18.4%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 6.3%, mineral products excluded – 12.4%. Exports to Russia increased by 6.2%, of goods of Lithuanian origin – decreased by 2.1%.
Over the year (March 2015, against March 2014), exports increased by 0.1, imports – 1.8%. The increase in exports was determined by an increase in exports of fertilisers (30%), boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (13.2%). The increase in imports was influenced by an increase in imports of boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (21.1%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (19.2%). Mineral products excluded, exports of goods increased by 0.4%, imports – 7.9%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 0.3%, mineral products excluded – 3.2%. Exports to Russia decreased by 31.6%, of goods of Lithuanian origin – 60.2%. Exports of food and agricultural products (CN sections I–IV) to Russia dropped by 63.1%, of food and agricultural products of Lithuanian origin – 86.2%.
In January–March 2015, against the same period of 2014, exports decreased by 4.4%, imports – 1.5%. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (12.3%), edible vegetables (56%) and ground vehicles (22.8%). The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports of crude oil (28.8%), edible vegetables (48.9%). A decrease in value of exported petroleum products and imported crude oil was conditioned by price drop for oil. Mineral products excluded, exports of goods decreased by 2.8%, while imports increased by 3.1%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 3.8%, mineral products excluded – grew by 1.1%. Exports to Russia decreased by 33.6%, of goods of Lithuanian origin – 60.4%, which was conditioned by a decrease in exports of milk and dairy products (99.6%), non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages (79.5%); meat and edible meat offal was not exported.
Exports of food and agricultural products (CN sections I–IV) to Russia decreased by 64%, of food and agricultural products of Lithuanian origin – by 85.3% (in January–March 2014, exports of such products amounted to EUR 81.4 million, while in the same period of 2015 – EUR 11.9 million).
In January–March 2015, the most important Lithuania's partners in exports were Russia (13.7%), Latvia (9.9%), Poland (9.5%) and Germany (9%), in imports – Russia (15.5%), Germany (11.4%), Poland (10.3%) and Latvia (7.2%). Most of the goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to Germany (12.7%), Latvia (7.7%), the United States (7.1%) and Poland (7%).
In January–March 2015, the largest share in Lithuania's exports and imports fell within mineral products (14.6 and 21.7% respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (13.8 and 17.5%), and products of the chemical or allied industries (12.6 and 12.7%). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within mineral products (19%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (11.7%), products of the chemical or allied industries (11.5%) and prepared foodstuffs (7.9%).
