Further support for Ukraine and the opening of logistics channels for the country’s export of goods to European and world markets will be discussed at the meetings, round table discussions and sessions.
Minister Skuodis, together with the Ministers of Transport of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland, and the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, who will join remotely, will participate in a joint press conference to present a Call to Action on the war in Ukraine, they will call for strengthening the resilience of the European transport system and supply chains, and contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine’s transport infrastructure.

Ministers will also discuss the need to develop transnational cooperation and improve the interoperability of different modes of transport, accelerate the transition to more sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility, and accelerate transport innovation, digital solutions and innovation for long-term and sustainable change in transport and logistics. According to the European Green Deal, by 2050, Europe should reach a carbon-neutral economy.
From 2023, Lithuania, which is planning to take over the presidency of this International Transport Forum, promises to set ambitious goals for achieving transport neutrality with regard to climate change by developing innovations and digitalisation in international logistics chains.
During his visit to Leipzig, Minister Skuodis is also scheduled to meet with Pete Buttigieg, US Secretary of Transportation, Kim Young Tae, Secretary-General of ITF, and other ministers of transport.
Held annually in Leipzig in May, the ITF Summit is the largest international transport policy event, bringing together ministers of transport from around the world to discuss strategic issues with business leaders, researchers and representatives of international organizations.
