"Within the last 250 meters of the race, the New Zealand's boat was in front, but we were still close enough, and we believed that we can fight for the first place. We also heard a noise coming the rivals' boat, so we knew that they might have a problem and we started to work even harder. We believed in victory and really wanted to win the gold medal. I noticed that at the final gasp we overtook them. This is our first gold in the world championship and it cannot be compared to any other of our victories," the new golden medallist Vištartaitė said to the press after the race.
