Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius expresses condolences over the loss of Regina Resnik-Blatas

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has expressed his condolences over the death of Metropolitan Opera star and director, Regina Resnik-Blatas.

"I express my sincere condolences over the death of the world-famous singer and a good friend of Lithuania, Regina Resnik-Blatas, to her family and friends. Her invaluable gifts and efforts to promote our country in the world will always be remembered," – said the Prime Minister in his letter.

The world-renowned artist was awarded the Order for Merits to Lithuania "Knight's Cross". Regina Resnik-Blatas donated to Lithuania a huge collection of the oeuvre of her husband, Arbit Blatas, who was born in Kaunas. The Lithuanian Art Museum enjoys the collection of 700 paintings, sculptures, and drawings of one of the world's most esteemed artists.
