Kriščiūnas underlined the Honorary Consuls' significant role in representing Lithuania in the United States. "Your knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm allow you to efficiently represent the interests of Lithuania in your states of residence, where you are not rarely the only official representatives of Lithuania," said Kriščiūnas.
Lithuania's Foreign Vice-Minister Bekešius, Ambassador Kriščiūnas, Lithuanian Consuls General in the USA Julius Pranevičius, Marijus Gudynas and Darius Gaidys along with representatives of the United States Department of State and the Honorary Consuls discussed trends in bilateral relations between Lithuanian and the United States, current issues, legal guidelines for activities of the Honorary Consuls. Bekešius noted that "the U.S. leadership is a guarantor of secure democracies in the world."
The Director of International Jewish Affairs at the American Jewish Committee Andrew Baker and the participants of the convent discussed cooperation among the communities and agreed to use the contacts to more actively pursue the implementation of joint cultural and heritage projects.
Thanking the Honorary Consuls for the opportunity to participate in the convent, the Ambassador Kriščiūnas said that "when working together to achieve a common goal, we can and we must exploit the full potential of the Honorary Consuls' network that together with actions of Lithuanian diplomats must increase Lithuania's security and bring the U.S.A. even closer to Lithuania, especially in the fields of tourism, investment promotion, and business development."
