While putting an emphasis on the security challenges common to Lithuania and Poland, Minister J.Olekas and his Polish counterpart agreed to cooperate in preparation for the NATO Summit in Warsaw more closely.
The Lithuanian Minister of National Defence expressed support to Poland's position declared beforehand that forces of the Alliance should be permanently stationed in Eastern Europe. "In my view, NATO must enhance its capacity to deter and defend in response to the Russian aggression," J.Olekas said. According to the Lithuanian Minister of National Defence, prepositioning of NATO troops and equipment is an essential element of a reliable deterrence.
The Ministers also discussed the capacity of their countries to host allied forces, the prospects of strengthening air defence and other capabilities, and to carry out procurements together.
