Kirkilas noted that along with the topics related to the euro introduction other issues were also discussed at the meeting. "Germany welcomes the introduction of the euro in all three Baltic States as of next year, which respectively pushes Poland into a serious consideration of the adoption of the euro in the near future. However, the issue of effective regular increase in minimum monthly salary has been recurrent in the German Parliament, which results in positive impact on employees, entrepreneurs, state budget and economy. Germany's long-term practise would be very useful for Lithuania. It was the agreement on minimum wage which formed the basis for the 'grand coalition' deal reached between the Christian Democrats and the Social Democrats in Germany in late autumn of last year. Raising minimum wage should become a regular practise in Lithuania."
