A major fire broke out in Paris last Monday. It was the Notre Dame Cathedral that was in flames.

Although the damages done are huge - we should mention here the collapsed spire and roof as well as some stained glass that exploded - firefighters still managed to save the 850-year-old Gothic building's main stone structure as well as its two rectangular towers. Fortunately, the interior of the church was also saved together with some cathedral’s treasures and artefacts.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but most probably it was an accident connected with some renovation works taking place.

Macron told, that the cathedral will be rebuilt. What gives hope is the fact that French billionaire François-Henri Pinault has already pledged some 100 million EUR towards rebuilding the Notre Dame Cathedral.
