The interlocutors underlined the success of the political consultation between Lithuania and Brazil. The consultation took place on the eve of the meeting.
The head of the Lithuanian diplomacy and the Brazilian Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary stressed the need to continue close economic cooperation.
“We are planning to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries on economic collaboration soon, which will open up new opportunities for companies of both countries,” said the head of Lithuanian diplomacy. Brazil is Lithuania’s second largest trade partner in Latin America.
Linkevičius reminded the Undersecretary about the invitation for the Brazilian Foreign Minister to pay an official visit to Lithuania.
Lithuania and Brazil established their diplomatic relations in 1931, and re-established them on 5 November 1991. Lithuania opened its Consulate General in São Paulo in 2013. There are also Lithuanian Consulates General in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
