Lithuania and Qatar are interested in strengthening their bilateral economic ties. The President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė paid a working visit to the Gulf state on 29 April 2012. The President presented the construction of LNG terminal in Lithuania and discussed issues related to gas supply to Lithuania. The agreement on economic and commercial cooperation between Lithuania and Qatar was prepared for signing last year.

The Lithuania-Qatar negotiations on Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement are held on 3 and 4 September in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The conclusion of this agreement would significantly contribute to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of energy, and would help to attract foreign investments to Lithuania.
