SocietyThe European Commission managed its 2013 EU budget funds according to the rules, so Parliament should grant it a "discharge" (approval) for that year, said the Budgetary Control Committee on Tuesday. MEPs nonetheless criticised high administrative error rates in agriculture, regional and employment policy spending, which is managed mainly by EU member states. Parliament's own management of EU funds in 2013 was also approved, in a separate vote. Beginning on the last Sunday in March, the aviation summer season will offer even more flights from the Lithuanian capital. The number of Air Lituanica flights from Vilnius Airport will increase up to 59 regular departures per week. In February 2015 year-on-year, the number of passengers at Lithuanian airports increased by 19.6%. Meanwhile, Lithuanian air carriers transported by 41.4% more passengers, statistics shows. President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, who was attending the European Council in Brussels has criticised the Lithuanian Government for undertaking insufficient social reforms. According to preliminary data of Statistics Lithuania, in the fourth quarter of 2014, all types of transport carried 26.6 million tonnes of goods, or by 0.8% more than in the fourth quarter of 2013. Statistics Lithuania informs that 36.6 thousand residents emigrated from and 24.3 thousand persons immigrated to Lithuania in 2014. Compared to 2013, the number of emigrants decreased by 2.2 thousand (5.7%), that of immigrants – increased by 2.3 thousand (3.7%). The Government of Lithuania will not invest in Air Lituanica airlines, but to the best of Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius' knowledge, a private investor has taken interest in the company.
