Wednesday, April 17, London - President Dalia Grybauskaitė together with other world leaders is attending the funeral of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

"Today we say goodbye to one of the most influential political figures of the 20th century. Britain and the world have lost an exceptional personality. Margaret Thatcher has left an indelible imprint on history, with future generations to remember her," the President said.

According to the President, M. Thatcher has proved that through persistent and hard work impossible things can be achieved. This politician changed Britain and the world. President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with M. Thatcher in person a decade ago.

The ceremonial funeral of Britain's former prime minister has opened with a funeral service at St. Paul's Cathedral in London.

The funeral is attended by more than two thousand people, including Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, the current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Cameron, M. Thatcher's cabinet ministers, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, prime ministers of Latvia, Poland, Italy, Netherlands, Canada, former heads of state of the Czech Republic, Australia, Japan and Canada.
