The flights have been organized by the Lithuanian government in cooperation with Tez Tour. The two flights are scheduled from Tenerife's southern airport after midday local time, and the planes are scheduled to land in Vilnius before 9 p.m.
Inga Aukstuolyte, a spokeswoman for Tez Tour, told there are 360 seats on both flights, adding that more people could be taken depending on the general weight of the planes. There were still 18 vacant seats at 10.50 a.m. on Monday.
Tickets for these flights will cost 500 euros.
Based on the information the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has, there are over 6000 people on the island of Tenerife at the moment.
Several thousands Lithuanian have asked the state's assistance in returning home after European countries drastically restricted movement in order to slow the spread of the new coronavirus.
On Thursday, Lithuanians will be able to fly back to Vilnius from Valencia on a special flight, and people will be able to fly back from Paris on Friday and Saturday.
