Polish inscription profaned in the Vilnius Region L24.lt

A plate with the Polish name "Wielka Rzesza” (Didžioji Riešė), placed on a boulder just at the entrance to this village, has been smashed by vandals. The incident took place at night on 19th August.

The plate with the Polish name of the village was placed on the roadside boulder by the inhabitants of the village. The people were not only the initiators of the idea, but also its executors. The plate has been produced and fixed using their own funds.

Poles still constitute majority of inhabitants of the Vilnius Region (about 60% of Poles, about 30% of Lithuanians). Currently, there are 40% of Poles and 50% of Lithuanians in the Riešė municipality. However, before the war there were no Lithuanians at all.
