On Wednesday, 19 April, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has met with Manuela Schwesig, Minister President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, to discuss current and future cooperation between Lithuania and the German Federal State, also further support for Ukraine and for the Ukrainian population fleeing Russia’s aggression.

MEPs will open talks with the Council of the EU on reforming the EU’s anti-money laundering rules to help authorities crack down on the illicit flow of money and assets.

On Wednesday, after a meeting with the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Margus Tsahkna, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis noted that both countries had constantly urged allies to increase the pace of assistance to Ukraine further and sought to demonstrate tangible progress at the NATO summit in Vilnius, as Ukraine was approaching its membership of the organisation.

On April 18 Vilnius will for the first host a cybersecurity forum, Cyber Champions Summit. Cyber Champions Summit: a bridge between the Transatlantic and Asia-Pacific Cyber is co-organized by the Ministry of National Defence, the National Cyber Security Centre and the Regional Cyber Defence Centre. Representatives of the private and public sectors of NATO Allies and Asia-Pacific partners will gather at the Summit to address the most topical themes of cybersecurity.

The updated law will ensure that products in the EU, whether sold online or in traditional shops, comply with the highest safety requirements.

The Lithuanian government has approved the initiative of the Ministry of Justice to take legal actions to hold the Belarusian regime accountable for the smuggling of migrants at Lithuanian-Belarusian border. According to the Lithuanian authorities irregular flow of migration is organised by Belarusian leadership.

On Monday, April 3, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė met with Salome Zourabichvili, President of Gerogia, who is visiting Lithuania. The two leaders discussed Georgia’s prospects for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Russia’s war against Ukraine, and the security situation in Europe.

On Tuesday morning, President Gitanas Nausėda met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova, Igor Grosu. The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Moldova, European integration and strengthening Moldova’s resilience.
