While continuing the working visit to the United States on 29 April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius took part in the Atlantic Council’s conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the enlargement of the EU and NATO, and met with high-ranking U.S. officials to discuss security situation in Eastern Europe, the need to strengthen the region’s energy independence and to be better informed about inhabitants of Eastern Partnership countries, as well as advantages of rapprochement with Europe.

On 27 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius began his one-day visit to Kiev by honouring those who were killed on Maidan. The Lithuanian Foreign Minister also met with the Parliament Speaker and Ukraine’s Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov, the new Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the head of the Security Service Valentin Nalivaichenko, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrey Dashchitsa, the Minister of Youth and Sport Dmitro Bulatov, Members of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) Borys Tarasyuk and Petro Poroshenko. The Lithuanian Foreign Minister also met with the Lithuanian medical staff who had rushed to Kyiv to provide help.

On 14 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius chaired discussions on the strengthening of the United Nations-European Union cooperation and interaction. The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton also delivered speeches.
