According to the President, the brave and decisive steps that the two countries took to realize their aspirations for independence returned the right to Lithuania and Poland to create their own destiny. Our nations took on a historic commitment to build free and democratic states.
"Almost a hundred years after declaring independence, our countries are members of a strong, democratic family of European nations and the transatlantic community. Membership in the European Union and NATO is not only a guarantee of welfare for our citizens, but also of our common values of openness, freedom, independence, and democracy," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
The President also underlined that bilateral relations between Lithuania and Poland were founded on a solid basis of friendship and responsibility. According to her, further cooperation and strategic projects in energy, transport and culture will contribute to building common well-being and security.
Dalia Grybauskaitė sent her best wishes for the continued strength and happiness of the President of Poland as well as for the success, well-being and prosperity of his country and its people.
