“We highly value Denmark’s contribution to regional security. It is one of the most active participants of the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states which is strategically important to Lithuania,” says Minister of National Defence A. Anušauskas. Next fall Danish airmen will deploy to Šiauliai to patrol the eastern borders of the NATO alliance for the eighth time.
Minister underlined the activity of the NATO Force Integration Unit in Vilnius and thanked Denmark for the successful service of the Danish officer, Col Jakob Søgård Larsen, who has been in command of the NATO headquarters since its inauguration five years ago.
Lithuania and Denmark has been developing various forms of defence cooperation since 1994: in training Lithuanian military personnel, organising joint military exercises. Long bilateral experience and skills allows Lithuanian soldiers to continue training in international operations and international multilateral projects, for example, the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force, in composition of the Danish contingent.
