Ruling coalition unanimously decides to support Minister Narkevič l24.lt

After the meeting of the ruling coalition council last Tuesday, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis annouced that Jaroslav Narkevič will keep its position as a Minister of Transport and Communications.


Skvernelis said that a vote of confidence in the Minister Jaroslav Narkevič has been unanimously expressed during the meeting.

‚The ruling coalition council has expressed its full support after getting acquainted with the specific works and activities carried out by the Minister, as well as after examining information that was transmitted in public space regarding alleged sins of the Minister. There is full support and the Minister will continue his work‘, said the Prime Minister.

The meeting of the council of the ruling coalition was attended by the Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis as well as the representatives of the ruling parties. The Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union was represented by party‘s Chairman Ramūnas Karbauskis, Deputy Speakers of the Seimas Rima Baškienė and Arvydas Nekrošius, Vice Chairmen of the faction Aušrinė Norkienė and Jonas Jarutis, Chairman of the Committee on Bugdet and Finance Vilius Ažuolas, Chairwoman of the Committee on Legal Affairs Agnė Širinskienė. The Social Democratic Party was represented by the Chairman of the party Gediminas Kirkilas, Deputy Speaker of the Seimas Irena Šaulienė, Vice Chairman of the party Kęstutis Daukšys, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Juozas Bernatonis, Minister of Agriculture Andrius Palionis, Chairman of the Committee on Economics Rimantas Sinkevičius. The Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania-Christian Families Alliance was represented by the Chairman of the party Valdemar Tomaševski, Chairwoman of the EAPL-CFA faction in the Seimas Vanda Kravčionok, Vice Chairman of the faction Česlav Olševski, Minister of the Transport and Communications Jaroslav Narkevič, Minister of the Interior Rita Tamašunienė. Member of the Seimas Vytautas Kamblevičius was also present during the meeting.

The Prime Minister assured, that he will present the decision regarding the full support for the Minister Narkevič of the ruling coalition council to the President. ‚During the meeting with the President I will also present him the arguments that I heard today and then we will know his final position‘, said Skvernelis.

The head of government noted that the accusations against the Minister of Transport and Communications are groundless.

‚Most importantly, the accusations and doubts dissolve in public space because they are unfounded‘, stated Skvernelis.

The head of government once again said on Tuesday morning that the Minister of Transport and Communications has his full confidence. He also pointed out that the allegations against Narkevič were unfounded.

After the meeting of the ruling coalition council Jaroslav Narkevič thanked the representatives of the coalition, the Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis as well as the EAPL-CFA Chairman Valdemar Tomaševski for their support during a media harassment aimed to discredit his reputation as a Minister of Transport and Communications.

‚I would like to thank the representatives of the coalition, the Prime Minister and the EAPL-CFA Chairman for their support, understanding and help. That despite the huge media harassment against me which, I am sure, will continue, the work was carried out throughout this whole period of unfounded attacks and all attention was focused on carrying out specific actions. I plan to continue all the work for the needs of the governing coalition and the government's program ‘, said Narkevič.

The candidacy of Lukas Savickas for the position of the Minister of Economy and Innovation was approved during the meeting of the ruling coalition council too. At present, Savickas is the advisor to the Prime Minister and a councillor in the Vilnius City Municipality.
