"On February 16, earlier this year, Lithuania also celebrated the 95th anniversary of the restoration of its independence. Such national celebrations not only take us back to the origins of our statehood, but they also remind us that we must consistently consolidate bilateral dialogue and cooperation on all issues, without exception, that are critically important to our countries and people," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
Dalia Grybauskaitė underlined that Lithuania and Latvia were not only next-door neighbors, but for almost ten years they had been partners and allies in the European Union and NATO.
"I firmly believe that working together in goodwill we will implement the key projects in energy, security and other areas of significance to our nations. I strongly hope that through our close collaboration in the European Union - presided over by Lithuania this half year - we will contribute to building a reliable Europe that ensures well-being to all of its people," the President wrote.
Dalia Grybauskaitė wished the President of Latvia continued strength and happiness, as well as unity and long years of prosperity to his country.
