Today another judgment on famous case about removing signs with Polish street names from the Vilnius region houses was passed in Vilnius Court. The court dismissed the application of bailiff to punish the Director of Administration in Municipality of Vilnius region Lucyna Kotlovska.

In the application, the bailiff demanded from defendant to pay the penalty up to one thousand litas for each day of delay in implementing the judgment of court. The judgment has the seven-day deadline for appeal to a higher court.

- I am pleased with the verdict. But, I know the case is not over yet and the other side will not give up so easily – L. Kotlovska said in the interview for the portal L24.lt.

Municipalities of Vilnius and Šalčininkai districts have been repeatedly punished for non-compliance with the demands of the Lithuanian State Language Inspectorate. Three years ago, the Vilnius Regional Administrative Court at the request of a representative of the Government of Lithuanian Republic ruled the removal of bilingual street signs.

In 2011, the Vilnius Court No. 1 imposed on L. Kotlovska another penalty of 500 litas for not executing a judicial decision. Previously, she emphasized repeatedly that municipality does not intend to remove signs with Polish street names from private houses, as it is not lawful.

Thus, today's court decision leaves the matter of bilingual labels still open.
