On November 17, Monday, David E. Baker, the Vice President for External Affairs of Illinois Institute of Technology, visited Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU). Edward Lucas, one of the most prominent British columnists analysing geopolitical situation in the Eastern Europe, has been awarded Vytautas Magnus University (VDU) Honorary Doctorate. The ceremony took place on 20 November, the university said in a press release. "The brain is incredibly difficult to understand. In early November, the 28th General Assembly of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) was held in Singapore. Dr. Gražina Tautvaišienė, the Deputy Director of Vilnius University Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astronomy was elected as a Vice-president of the IUPAP and the President of the Astrophysics Commission. New technologies such as wearable computers and face recognition promise to change the way we work, shop and entertain. Creating a digital single market could help boost Europe's high-tech businesses and create more jobs. At a workshop organised by the EP's internal market committee on Thursday 13 November, MEPs and experts looked at ways how to achieve this. Workshop participants also tried out some new gadgets. Minister of Economy Evaldas Gustas met with European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation Carlos Moedas and stressed that high technology and engineering industry form research and innovation potential in Lithuania.
