The best way to discover yourself is to gain work experience. You can do that by having part time work, internship or by volunteering. Modern research on cancer treatment, genetics, renewable resources, food production – these are just a few areas of many where biotechnology is applied: the fastest-growing industry field in the world. Lithuanian scientists are also using the most advanced technologies in this field: Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) is at the forefront of biomedical research in the country and is constantly working on prominent international and national projects. 27 April 2017 the 16th international competition of young researchers’ innovations will take place. The traditional event, the festival of innovation ir being organised by Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) for inventors, science enthusiasts and business professionals. It will take place at KTU Santaka Valley. The workshop “Baltic States After the crisis? Transformation of Welfare Systems and Social Problems” was held on 24-25 of November 2016 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The aim of the workshop was to discuss welfare system reforms which have been implemented during the recent financial and economic crisis of 2008/2010 and post-crisis period, and major social problems in the three Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). Another important aim of the workshop was to establish a Baltic social policy association, which would unite all researchers working on social policy issues in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and others interested in social policy development in the three Baltic States. VMU International Office has announced the results of the competition for Erasmus+ students or recent graduates traineeship grants in the 2016/2017 academic year. The second competition is open for Erasmus+ student or recent graduate traineeship grants. Application deadline is 31th of January, 2017. In November 2016 in Bergamo (Italy) Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Kaunas City Municipality and Vytautas Magnus University were announced as official members of the Unitown – the Network of Excellence for University Cities. The International Bureau of Education (IBE-UNESCO) launched the first postgraduate Certificate In Curriculum Design and Development for Central-East Europe Central Asia together with VMU in Lithuania on 28 November. This will be followed by UNESCO IBE’s first postgraduate Diploma for the Arab States in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 4 December. A group of student counsellors providing free, one-on-one, confidential, walk-in services to VMU students. Currently student-initiated and student-run group is in its second year and introduce improvements such as counselling in English. If you are feeling down, experiencing difficulties in your life, need someone to talk to but are hesitant to see a professional counsellor, come to Student to Student Peer Counselling, they are waiting for you and would be happy to talk to you. As peer counsellors, they provide a supportive atmosphere where students can openly talk about their feelings. Last week the Research Council of Lithuania (LMT) has announced the research and study institutions who were allocated funding from the Council for submitting the research projects for the EU Research and Innovation programme Horizon2020. Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is the most active among Lithuanian institutions: 54 project applications were approved and allocated LMT funding. Vice-Dean for Strategic Partnership of VGTU Faculty of Business Management Agnė Vaiciukevičiūtė visited Haga Helia University of Applied Sciences in Finland where more than 30 international guests from Nepal, Finland, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, France, Malta, Spain, The Netherlands, Estonia, Colombia and Lithuania convened for the International Co-Creation Workshop event from 31 October to 3 November 2016. |
