First-grade passports presented to Lithuanian children living the United States

President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented first-grade passports to children celebrating September 1st at the Kristijonas Donelaitis Lithuanian School in Washington, D.C.

"It's so good to see that Lithuania is here with you. And this document confirms it. Never forget your roots, your language and always remember that Lithuania is waiting for you," the President said.

She underlined that September 1st was a great meaningful day, brimming with hope and laying the foundation for our future. As she offered her warm congratulations on the start of the new school year, the President wished all to remain Lithuanians and to carry Lithuania in their hearts.

The President brought 350 first-grade passports to Washington.

The Kristijonas Donelaitis Lithuanian School was founded in 1960. It is attended by more than 100 students, ranging from 2 to 14 years of age.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently on a working visit in the United States of America, met with U.S. President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, as well as with Latvian President Andris Bērziņš and Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves.
