On Wednesday, in the Simonas Daukantas square situated in front of the Presidential Palace, President Dalia Grybauskaite and Minister of Education and Science Dainius Pavalkis attended the ceremony of transferring the yellow busses to municipalities.

A yellow bus is a transport facility for bussing children to and from school funded according to a special program developed by the Government of Lithuania.

The Ministry of Education and Science has spent LTL 5 million (EUR 1.4 million) and bought 42 yellow busses.

"The yellow bus is not just a perfect facility for reaching the school in a fast and safe way, but it is also a wonderful possibility to go to excursions, to learn more about the country, its history and culture. I wish you that the road to the school would be safe, and the acquaintance with Lithuania would inspire pupils to contribute in making this country better and more beautiful," said President Dalia Grybauskaite during the ceremony.
