The issues of the exchange between students and teachers of VGTU and Indonesia's higher education institutions, as well as the promotion and mutual recognition of higher education qualifications, acquired abroad, in both countries - Lithuania and Indonesia – discussed during this visit.
Since 2014, His Excellency Professor Dr Bomer Pasaribu has visited VGTU twice. At the time of his first visit, he promoted the universities of Indonesia, for establishing academic links.
After his visit at VGTU, the Rector of Bandung Institute of Technology, the largest science institution of technological sciences of Indonesia, visited VGTU and discussed cooperation in the areas of staff mobility and the number of doctoral students in the spheres of information technology, construction engineering, mechanical engineering, urban planning, computer design, architecture, creative industries and others.
The Republic of Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world according to the population (over 250 million). Currently, the economy of this country is rising rapidly, together with the income of the population. The demand for higher education is also increasing, the higher education institutions being unable to meet the needs.
The Government of the country has already planned the development of the higher education sector, striving for the development of its availability until the year 2020. Thus, they intensified cooperation with Australia and the United States, as well as Europe, including Lithuania.
