EconomyLithuanian electricity transmission system operator drafts 10-year development plan2015-07-07, 16:27Litgrid, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, has prepared and submitted to the National Control Commission for Prices and Energy Ten-Year Network Development Plan for 2015 – 2024. In the early hours of 30 June 2015, after 12 hours of negotiation, the Latvian presidency reached a provisional deal with the European Parliament on new rules to end mobile phone roaming fees and safeguard open internet access, also known as net neutrality rules. For the Council, the agreement still has to be confirmed by member states. Statistics Lithuania and the Bank of Lithuania inform that in I quarter 2015, the foreign direct investment (FDI) flow into Lithuania and the Lithuanian direct investment flow abroad was on the increase. Please note that this news release presents FDI calculated by applying directional principle, i.e. by estimating reverse investment. Therefore, the data differ from the direct investment information provided in the balances of payments and international investment where assets and liabilities principle is applied for the calculation of the said investment. Significant changes are bound to happen in Lithuania's energy market in 2016: new interconnections with Poland and Sweden will be launched, electricity generation quotas for combined heat and power plants will be cancelled and a more favourable to consumers gas supply security financing model should enter into force. The retail turnover (including VAT) of the Apranga Group reached EUR 15.8 million in June 2015, and has increased by 8% in comparison to June 2014. During June 2015, state company Klaipedos nafta reloaded 634 thousand tons of petroleum products into its storage tanks of Klaipeda oil terminal and Subacius fuel base (SFB), i.e. greater by 56.9% compared to June 2014, when 404 thousand tons were reloaded, the Company said in a statement. Rimantas Sinkevicius, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, met with the government officials and representatives of the biggest transport, logistics, infrastructure construction and rolling production companies from the province of Xinjiang. Statistics Lithuania informs that, based on provisional data, in May 2015, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises* amounted to EUR 745.8 million; against April 2015, it increased by 1.4% at constant prices (seasonally adjusted – decreased by 1.2%). Except for the drop recorded in 2009 following the financial crisis, the value of European Union (EU) imports of goods from China has significantly increased over the last decade, from EUR 129.2 bln. in 2004 to a peak of EUR 302.5 bln. in 2014. The €315-billion "Juncker" investment plan, announced by the European Commission last November to encourage the financing of viable investments in Europe, was backed by the European Parliament in a vote on Wednesday. Parliament modified its financing structure, won a say in selecting its leadership and ensured more democratic oversight in negotiations with the Council. |
