“Meeting the French IT giant symbolizes three important things. France is a strategic partner of Lithuania, the information technology sector is one of our core economic pillars and existing strengths, and the creative Dassault Systemes’ Kaunas branch is a proof that we can make a significant contribution to the top-level global innovative solutions,” the President said after the meeting, adding that he welcomed the French company to increase its investments in Lithuania.
The fast-growing Lithuanian IT sector is a significant contributor to the country’s economy. Over a decade, IT turnover grew 3.5 times while its value added grew 4 times. Lithuania is in a strong global position to further expand its IT sector, with a well-developed IT infrastructure, as well as skills and talent supply.
Dassault Systemes has more than 20,000 employees worldwide and generates the annual revenue of EUR 4.9 billion. The company currently employs 90 people in its Kaunas office.
Direct investment by France in Lithuania amounted to EUR 634 million at the end of 2021 (EUR 569 million at the end of 2020).
In November 2021, President Gitanas Nausėda met with representatives of major French companies and Lithuanian businesses during his visit to France. In September 2020, the Lithuania-France Business Forum was held in Vilnius on the occasion of the French President’s official visit.
