According to Akmena Director Dangiras Samalius, the company has redistributed its production capacity, invested around 100,000 euros in gluing equipment and created 20 new jobs after accepting Ikea's offer to increase the production of kitchen tables by a third.
Akmena, which is based in the district of Kretinga, is western Lithuania, currently manufactures two types of kitchen tables for the Swedish group. The company this year increased the production of these tables by about 20%.
Some 10,000 units of kitchen tables go from Kretinga to the warehouses of Ikea stores monthly, accounting for around 85% of Akmena's total production output.
