The first two group stages of EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia are over. Now the teams will play in the quarterfinals. Lithuania will face the Italian team on 19 September at 22 Vilnius time.

On Sunday Lithuanian national team played against Ukraine and despite being well prepared for the game, they had won in a hard game with a score of 70:63 (18-13, 14-17, 16-16, 22-17) and took the second place in the group ratings.

Today Lithuania gained a smashing victory against the Belgian basketball team. From the 3rd quarter Lithuania made a gap of 30 points and but at the end the Belgians narrowed the gap till 20 points.

France missed a chance to book a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2013 European basketball championship on Wednesday as they lost to Lithuania while Serbia took over sole possession of first place in the second round group stage.

Lithuania advanced to the second round of the European basketball championships despite losing, 78-72, to Bosnia-Herzegovina. Needing to win by 10 to squeeze out Lithuania, Bosnia-Herzegovina led by 72-58 after Mirza Teletovic knocked down a 3-pointer with five minutes left.

Lithuania tackled the Latvian team in World Cup 2014 qualification and lost 2-1. As a result, Lithuania fell down to the fifth place in Group G, growing the gap between the leaders, as well as from the tickets to Brazil.

Lithuania claimed a third straight win in Group B, defeating Montenegro 77-70 in overtime in Jesenice on Sunday to eliminate Montenegro from Second Round contention. The seven-point Lithuanian victory sunk Montenegro to a third consecutive loss.

Led by rising stars Nemanja Nedovic and Nenad Krstic, Serbia got even with Lithuania, a team that had fought them to a standstill on more than one occasion and with mixed results. Both  teams have had wins and losses against each other as an opponent.

It was a very dramatic final when at the last few centimetres the Lithuanian boat thrust in the lead and the girls snatched their victory.

Donata Vistartaite and Milda Valciukaite of Lithuania won the women's double sculls event, beating Fiona Bourke and Zoe Stevenson of New Zealand. Ekaterina Karsten and Yuliya Bichyk of Belarus were third.

There is only one exhibition match left before the big game – EuroBasket 2013 – and Lithuania has decided upon its 12 players that will fight for the victory.
